Back Country Kyla Cresswell 160mm H x 95mm LipAcrylic, pastel, fibre 600 x 450mm Back Country is slowly built up and developed over an extended period, often a year or more. Layers are added gradually, with fibres pressed into wet paint to create texture, alongside the introduction of colours and forms she is drawn to. Joni approaches the act of painting with a sense of spontaneity, embracing a childlike openness and intuition. It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint
