In 1928 Henry Ford purchased the building and had it moved with a team of oxen (the forerunner of the F-150) five miles west to its present location, adjacent to Hagers Pond, the mill pond created by William Hager when he built a dam to take advantage of the water from Hop Brook to operate the sawmill visible on all the old maps of Marlborough, hence the sign out front touting the building as the best country store by a dam site!
