Terracotta Passport Mask S - 189.2 Bethlehem symbolising patience and the fruitsA miniature West African passport mask in terracotta. Small enough to sit in the palm of the hand, passport masks were never worn for performance they were kept in a pocket or worn around the neck as sacred protective charms, carried between the living and spirit worlds. Each culture had its own distinct style, so the masks also served as a form of tribal identity. A lovely small curio for a shelf, or grouped together. Size: H 20cm W 6cm D 6cm.
