She hated that she had been born a woman, especially a Muslim woman, and was lost in the endless chores and duties she had to complete to earn her place in heaven, however difficult that would be. On the outside, she was a pious, legalistic, and devout Muslim, but inside she yearned to find her place on this earth and in heaven.
